V Rum Canned Cocktails Launch in the UK

Hampshire’s independent distillery V Rum has officially launched its first line of V Rum canned cocktails, marking its entry into the booming ready-to-drink (RTD) category. The debut range features three rum-based creations: Grapefruit Twist with pink grapefruit, Spiced Rum & Zero Cola, and Tropical Crush.

Each cocktail contains 7% ABV, comes in a 250ml format, and is packaged in recycled aluminium cans sourced sustainably.

Growing Demand for RTDs

The RTD market continues to surge in popularity. In the UK, Market Research Future predicts 16% growth in the next decade, particularly within the off-trade sector. Globally, IWSR’s Global Trends Report 2025 projects the category will double between 2019 and 2029, with US growth potentially reaching 400%.

This context creates fertile ground for V Rum canned cocktails, aligning the brand with rising consumer demand for convenience without sacrificing quality.

A Craft Ethos in Every Can

Carl Churchill, CEO of V Spirits Company, explained to The Spirits Business the motivation behind the launch:

“We recognized a clear opportunity in the booming RTD category to bring bar-quality rum into a convenient pre-mixed can format, without compromising on quality or sustainability.”

In the same interview, he added that V Rum canned cocktails reflect the brand’s identity:

“These RTDs stay true to our craft ethos: premium British rum, responsibly made, packaged for modern lifestyles. Early feedback confirms we’ve hit the mark – vibrant, flavour-forward drinks that pack a punch with a 7% ABV and pour perfectly chilled, straight from the can. This launch represents the future of our brand, premium, easy-to-drink, well-crafted and ethically made.”

Sustainability at the Core of V Rum

The distillery behind V Rum canned cocktails was founded by Carl and Nicole Churchill after five years of development and marks their fifth business venture. The Hampshire-based site runs entirely on renewable energy from Ecotricity.

V Rum also incorporates heat recovery systems, rainwater harvesting, and UK-refined molasses to lower transportation emissions, proving that sustainability drives its production choices as much as flavor does.

Availability and Future Plans

Currently, consumers can purchase V Rum canned cocktails directly from the distillery in the UK. The launch also builds anticipation for the brand’s growing role in the spirits industry.

At The Spirits Business Awards 2025, V Rum will sponsor the Bartender of the Year category, strengthening its presence among industry leaders. Additionally, its parent company, V IP Brands, has announced ambitions to acquire established distilleries and spirits brands, signaling further expansion ahead.
