Ron Carúpano emphasizes an importance on females holding leadership positions. Historically, the Venezuelan premium rum brand has been committed to female leadership in fundamental business positions. This commitment extends to a variety of company departments, including production, quality, and senior management.
Today, 42% of the brand’s workforce is comprised of women, with a presence in all business areas. This is a significant figure at an institutional level, which enhances the brand’s reputation by promoting equal employment opportunities.
Elevating Leadership and Legacy to a New Level
50% of the executive and managerial positions at Ron Carúpano are held by women. They are seated at the table, demonstrating their abilities to create, manage, and develop ambitious initiatives.
Ron Carúpano is proud to employ Venezuela’s first certified Rum Master Blender and a member of the Controlled Designation of Origin Council Board. This woman named Carmen López de Bastidas, who broke into a historically male-dominated territory more than three decades ago, paved the way for more women to lead in the liquor industry.
In addition to believing in leadership, Ron Carúpano promotes the formation of new generations. Analia Márquez attained the position of Junior Rum Master Blender in 2023, representing the new generation responsible for perpetuating the legacy of the World’s Best Rum.
In the facilities of Destilera Carúpano, half of the leadership positions are held by women, and many of these positions are crucial to the rum-making process. As Head of Cooperage, Juana Blanco oversees the processes of container treatment, assembly, and preparation. She is the first woman in Ron Carúpano’s history to hold this position.
The brand’s positioning, expansion, and growth strategy have been overseen by an almost exclusively female team over the years. Currently, two women are in charge of marketing strategies for Venezuela and global markets.
Director of Global Marketing for the brand, Luca Alliegro, oversees the dissemination of the brand in international markets and is responsible for introducing Ron Carúpano to the most discerning palates in the world.
Maria Corina Salas, Manager of Marketing for Venezuela, oversees the brand’s expansion and innovation strategies in Venezuela and is responsible for making more Venezuelans fall in love with the World’s Best Rum.
Committed to expansion
Women continue to gain ground in historically male-dominated fields; one of these fields is that of sommeliers, whose work and significance revolve around advising patrons on the best wine and spirit pairings. Currently, 75% of this profession is held by women in Venezuela.
Mayerlin Camacho has been the primary sommelier of Ron Carúpano and the originator of the ideal pairings that enhance the brand’s commercial portfolio for more than five years.
We are proud that behind the finest rum in the world is a group of exceptional women who, day in and day out, demonstrate their dedication, devotion, and distinct essence in each step of the Ron Carúpano production process. Today, we raise a glass of Ron Carúpano Legendario on the rocks to each of these legendary ladies.
