Madrid is set to host a groundbreaking event that reimagines the traditional industry expo. The Mad Tropikal festival aims to transform the standard tasting format into an immersive “tropical theme park” tailored for modern leisure seekers. This one-day experience represents a strategic collaboration between Federico Hernández, founder of The Rum Lab, and Eduardo Jiménez, founder of Holy Drop and the Madrid Whisky Club. By combining education with high-energy entertainment, the organizers seek to solidify Madrid’s reputation as a premier destination for global spirits culture.

Four Worlds within the Mad Tropikal festival

The event organizers have designed a dynamic atmosphere inspired by successful festivals in Puerto Rico. To keep the experience organized yet exciting, the Mad Tropikal festival features four distinct zones:

  • Spain Rum & Gin Expo: Now in its third edition, this space offers premium tastings, masterclasses, and exclusive label debuts.
  • WhiskyLands Experience: This summer edition caters specifically to professionals and enthusiasts looking to explore rare global expressions.
  • Mojito Garden: A high-energy, free-to-access area where local bars compete for the “Best Mojito” title amidst a retro-tropical vibe.
  • Alquimia Hub: This zone functions as the educational heart of the Mad Tropikal festival, hosting industry seminars that transition into a luxury cigar and whisky lounge by night.

Entertainment and Scheduling at the Mad Tropikal festival

Beyond the spirits, the event offers a diverse entertainment lineup to keep the energy high at the Caleido center. Attendees can enjoy tributes to Marc Anthony by The Latin Ensemble, rock performances honoring Queen, and a continuous stream of DJs and tropical bands. Furthermore, the complex will offer curated food pairings to complement the drink selections.

According to The Spirits Business, seminars will run from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM, while the main tasting sessions remain open from 2:00 PM to 7:00 PM. The Mad Tropikal festival provides a unique opportunity for both industry insiders and the general public to engage with spirits in a vibrant, non-traditional setting. Tickets for this landmark Mad Tropikal festival are currently available through the official event website.
