5 Twists for Your Summer Cocktails, you should try this!

Summer is here, and with it comes the craving for cool, thirst-quenching drinks. While a classic beer or glass of iced tea might be your go-to, there’s a whole world of refreshing rum cocktails waiting to be explored!

Rum’s versatility and natural sweetness make it the perfect base for a variety of summer coolers, from light and fruity to sophisticated and complex.

So, ditch the ordinary and shake up your summer with these delightful rum cocktails:

The Tropical Twist

Elevate your classic favorites like the Daiquiri or Mojito with a tropical twist. Muddle fresh fruits like mango, pineapple, or guava with a touch of mint for the Mojito, or add a splash of passion fruit liqueur to your Daiquiri for a tangy surprise.

  • Tropical Daiquiri: Combine 2 oz white rum, 1 oz fresh lime juice, ½ oz passion fruit liqueur, and ¾ oz simple syrup in a shaker. Shake with ice and strain into a chilled coupe glass. Garnish with a lime wedge.
  • Mango Mojito: Muddle 6 mint leaves and a few fresh mango slices in a highball glass. Add 2 oz white rum, ¾ oz fresh lime juice, and ½ oz simple syrup. Fill the glass with crushed ice, top it with soda water, and garnish it with a mint sprig and a mango wedge.

  • Piña Colada Popsicles: Blend 4 oz white rum, 4 oz pineapple juice, 4 oz cream of coconut, and ½ cup chopped frozen pineapple. Pour into popsicle molds and freeze for at least 6 hours.
  • Watermelon Mint Slush: In a blender, combine 2 oz white rum, 4 oz fresh watermelon chunks, ½ oz fresh lime juice, 1 oz simple syrup, and a handful of mint leaves. Blend until smooth and slushy. Pour into glasses and garnish with a mint sprig and a watermelon wedge.

  • Mai Tai: Combine 1 oz aged rum, 1 oz gold rum, ¾ oz fresh lime juice, ½ oz orgeat syrup, and a few drops of almond extract in a shaker with ice. Shake and strain into a Tiki mug filled with crushed ice. Garnish with a lime wedge and a mint sprig.
