V Rum, a British spirits maker based in Hampshire, is officially stepping into global travel retail (GTR) with distributor GMAX Travel Retail. The brand aims to introduce its sustainable rum lineup to travelers worldwide, marking a major step in its international growth strategy.
Founder and CEO Carl Churchill framed this collaboration as a turning point for the brand. He told The Spirits Business:
“Partnering with GMAX is a major milestone for us. Their extensive travel retail and duty free expertise, and global network make them the perfect partner for V Rum’s ambitious expansion plans… This is about showing the world what Great British rum can truly be.”
Churchill’s comment underscores the brand’s mission: build global visibility through a product line rooted in craft, innovation, and sustainability.
V Rum integrates environmental responsibility at every stage of production. The company:
This approach keeps the brand aligned with the growing consumer demand for sustainable rum and environmentally conscious spirits.
The portfolio currently includes V Premium White Rum, Spiced Rum, Overproof Rum, and an expanding RTD range.
Portfolio director Johnny Neill reinforced the importance of the new alliance. As he told The Spirits Business:
“This partnership is a statement of intent… Together, we’ll be taking a British, sustainably-made rum into key global markets and introducing something genuinely different to the travel retail category.”
GMAX has a strong track record with international spirits brands, including Brother’s Bond Bourbon and Au Vodka. The company will help V Rum expand across airports, cruise lines, and travel-hospitality channels—prime territories for premium and sustainable rum offerings.
Garry Maxwell, founder and director of GMAX Travel Retail, emphasized why V Rum stands out. In his conversation with The Spirits Business, he noted:
“V Rum brings something unique to travel retail, a premium British spirit with genuine craft credentials and a clear sustainability story… We’re excited to play a part in V Rum’s next chapter of growth.”
His view reflects a wider industry trend: travelers increasingly look for brands with authenticity, purpose, and eco-forward commitments—traits that define the sustainable rum category.
By joining forces with GMAX, V Rum positions itself at the intersection of premium craftsmanship and environmental responsibility. This move strengthens the brand’s presence and amplifies the global momentum behind sustainable rum—a segment that continues to evolve as travelers seek better choices with purpose and provenance.
