Tanduay Superior Rum Launches Fire Horse Edition for Chinese New Year Growth

Tanduay Superior Rum steps into the Year of the Fire Horse with a limited-edition label designed for Chinese New Year. The launch aligns the brand’s premium positioning with one of the most commercially significant celebrations in the Philippines.

Through this release, Tanduay strengthens its focus on heritage, craftsmanship, and occasion-driven marketing—especially during peak consumption periods such as Chinese New Year.

Why Tanduay Superior Rum Targets Chinese New Year

Chinese New Year drives strong liquor sales as families, corporations, and gift-givers stock up for gatherings and celebrations. By connecting the Fire Horse’s symbolism—energy, passion, and determination—to Tanduay Superior Rum, the company taps into cultural meaning to boost brand recall and premium purchases.

Roy Kristoffer Sumang, Tanduay International business development manager, said in a press statement:

“Chinese New Year is a time to honor tradition while embracing progress, and the Tanduay Superior Rum reflects this balance. It is a product of Tanduay’s rich heritage and craftsmanship. It is a premium expression for our loyal customers.”

This strategy reinforces Tanduay’s effort to position its premium line as both celebratory and aspirational.

Craftsmanship Behind Tanduay Superior Rum

Tanduay Superior Rum highlights the company’s blending and aging expertise. Master blenders combine rum aged for two years with rum matured for up to 12 years, creating depth and structure.

Bottled at 80 proof (40% ABV), the rum opens with molasses on the nose, followed by orange peel and banana notes, and finishes with toasted walnut. On the palate, it layers caramel, oak wood, and pepper, complemented by hints of nuts and coconut. A medium-to-long, dry finish carries lingering molasses and cocoa.

This profile supports Tanduay’s premium narrative and appeals to consumers seeking complexity during celebratory occasions.

Awards Strengthen Brand Equity

Tanduay Superior Rum has earned multiple silver and gold medals from Monde Selection, reinforcing its credibility in domestic and export markets.

Drinks International magazine declared Tanduay the World’s No. 1 Rum in 2017, and the brand has maintained that title for eight consecutive years, according to InsiderPH. This recognition solidifies Tanduay’s standing in the competitive global rum market.

The Bigger Picture for Tanduay Superior Rum

Founded as a distillery in Hagonoy, Bulacan, Tanduay has preserved traditional distilling methods while expanding under the Lucio Tan Group since 1988.

Today, the Fire Horse edition reflects a dual strategy: accelerate premiumization while broadening retail access. Consumers can purchase the product through www.shots.ph, supermarkets, and liquor stores nationwide.

By combining cultural relevance, award-winning credentials, and expanded distribution, Tanduay positions its Superior Rum to capture both celebratory spending and meaningful gifting throughout the Year of the Fire Horse.
