Australian rock legend Shannon Noll has shifted gears from music to the spirits world by launching The Great Australian Rum Co., a premium small-batch rum brand that reflects his deep passion for quality and craftsmanship. As the brand’s founder and Master Blender, Noll plays a hands-on role in every stage of production, from selecting barrels to designing custom finishes.

Award-Winning Start: King Brown Rum Takes Silver

Leading the lineup is King Brown, the brand’s flagship release. This double-distilled rum ages in American Oak barrels before finishing in a unique blend of ex-Shiraz French Oak, maple syrup, bourbon, and muscat casks. At the 2025 San Francisco World Spirits Awards, King Brown earned a Silver Medal, proving the brand’s commitment to excellence right out of the gate.

The upcoming core range will also include gold, white, and spiced expressions, with a nationwide launch expected by late 2025.

A Distinctly Australian Craft Rum

According to Vinyl Media, Shannon Noll explained the vision behind the brand:

“At The Great Australian Rum Co., we take a small-batch approach to rum-making. Every barrel is hand-selected, every finish meticulously crafted. This isn’t just rum—it’s a reimagining of the category.”

He continued,

“From the stage to the still, I’ve always chased excellence. With Great Australian Rum Co., I’m not just chasing it—I’m bottling it.”

By embracing a hands-on process and sourcing local influence, Noll aims to redefine Australian rum for a global audience.

A Music Career That Continues to Thrive

While stepping into the rum industry, Noll remains active in the world of music. In 2024, he released a 20th-anniversary edition of That’s What I’m Talking About, which led to a resurgence on the charts—reentering the ARIA Album Chart Top 20 and hitting the Top 3 on the ARIA Australian Albums Chart. He followed it up with a successful national tour.

His 2025 release RAW debuted at #1 on both the ARIA Album Chart and the AIR Independent Chart, reinforcing his ongoing musical influence.

Shannon Noll’s Historic Career

Shannon Noll holds a unique place in Australian music history:

  • Seven ARIA Top 10 albums
  • Two multi-Platinum #1 albums
  • 17 Platinum and 3 Gold certifications
  • 10 consecutive ARIA Top 10 singles—the only Australian male artist to achieve this
  • 2004 single “What About Me” became the highest-selling single of the year and reached 4× Platinum

Blending Heritage with Innovation in Australian Rum

With The Great Australian Rum Co., Noll brings the same passion, grit, and drive that built his music career into his newest venture. The company’s innovative aging process and bold flavor profiles position it as a fresh force in the evolving world of Australian rum.

As Noll puts it, this isn’t just about launching a spirit—it’s about capturing a true Aussie legacy in a bottle.
