Ron Matusalem launched its highly anticipated Ron Matusalem master blender tour with a successful European leg, led by the brand’s renowned master blender, Cynthia Vargas. The tour, which spans 13 capital cities across Europe and Asia, highlights the brand’s historic legacy and modern innovations in premium rum.
Between spring and June 2025, Vargas visited seven key cities across Europe, including Berlin, Paris, Madrid, Budapest, Brussels, Vilnius, and Prague. At each stop, she met with spirits professionals and showcased Ron Matusalem’s signature expertise in aging, blending, and wood selection—a craft honed over 150 years.
The second phase of the Ron Matusalem master blender tour begins in October, with scheduled stops in Hong Kong, Shanghai, Bangkok, Tokyo, and Kuala Lumpur. Vargas will continue to share insights with bartenders, buyers, and industry leaders in each market, strengthening the brand’s global presence.
During the tour, Vargas will also unveil an exciting announcement: Ron Matusalem will launch an ultra-premium rum in September 2025. This upcoming release reaffirms the brand’s commitment to innovation while honoring its artisanal roots.
As the guardian of the original Gran Reserva 15 recipe, Vargas plays a pivotal role in preserving tradition while driving forward new expressions of premium rum. Her training as a food engineer, along with a Master’s degree in quality systems and additional studies in oenology at the University of California, gives her a unique perspective in the world of spirits.
Since joining Ron Matusalem in 2003, Vargas has worked closely with the fifth-generation Álvarez family to shape the brand’s modern identity. Among her contributions are groundbreaking products like Insolito, the world’s first rosé rum, and the Sublime Limited Edition, which celebrated the brand’s 150th anniversary.
In May 2025, Ron Matusalem collaborated with Marc Álvarez, co-founder of Sips, to launch a new cocktail collection. This creative partnership resulted in seven original drinks that reimagined the brand’s core rum expressions, blending heritage with modern mixology.
The Ron Matusalem master blender tour not only connects the brand with global audiences but also reinforces its status as a leader in the ultra-premium rum category. As Cynthia Vargas continues to share her expertise and unveil new releases, Ron Matusalem sets the standard for tradition, quality, and innovation in rum.
