Myers’s Rum, the renowned Jamaican dark rum brand, launched two innovative collections featuring rum aged in Buffalo Trace Antique Collection (BTAC) barrels. These barrels, typically used for rare and highly sought-after whiskeys, elevate Myers’s latest blends, giving them a distinct and complex profile.
The BTAC barrels, revered by whiskey fans for their depth, maturity, and intense flavors, have infused Myers’s Rum with unique characteristics. As the brand explores these exciting, cross-spirit combinations, it seeks to appeal to both rum and whiskey enthusiasts alike.
The Signature Cask Collection consists of five unique rums, each aged in different BTAC barrels. Sazerac master blender Drew Mayville, who crafted this line, explained to Men’s Journal the vision behind it: “With these new collections, we’re crossing spirit categories to see how the flavors interact, challenging ourselves to develop products that entice consumers to try something new.”
Mayville’s dedication has resulted in a memorable, layered drinking experience with each bottle.
Here’s a closer look at the Signature Cask Collection lineup:
Myers’s Signature Legends Collection debuts with Legacy Blend #1, a collaborative creation with master blender Richard Seale of Foursquare Rum in Barbados. This blend unites Jamaican and Barbadian rum, showcasing the island heritage of both brands in a single bottle.
Legacy Blend #1 is bottled at 94 proof, with a flavor profile that’s both tropical and rich. Tasting notes include banana, caramel, dark fudge, baking spices, and molasses, providing a balanced and layered sip.
These collections are now available in limited quantities at select liquor stores. Legacy Blend #1 retails for $50 per bottle, while the Signature Cask Collection bottles are priced at $80 each. For rum connoisseurs and whiskey enthusiasts alike, these collections offer a rare opportunity to experience Myers’s Rum with a unique, elevated twist.
Myers’s Rum’s new releases showcase a creative cross-pollination of flavors, blending the heritage of Jamaican rum with the iconic profiles of Buffalo Trace’s renowned whiskey barrels. Each bottle brings its own story and distinct tasting notes, inviting drinkers to experience the influence of aged whiskey barrels on premium rum.
