Madrid’s long-lasting cocktail heritage takes another leap as it is set to become the epicenter of RON with the launch of the inaugural Mad Ron Week.

There is an agenda of events spanning nearly a week, beginning on Wednesday, May 7th, and concluding on Monday, May 12th.

Mad Ron Week: Experience and Tickets

The event will feature a series of events across the city, including cocktail menus, tastings, masterclasses, and cultural experiences that highlight the global influence of rum.

To check in and get their wristband and agenda/punch card, attendees can register online and then pick up their passes at the new Flor de Caña Experience Store, LAFUENTE Liquor Store, or at each bar.

Strategically, the event is scheduled for the same week as the second anniversary of the Spain Rum and Gin Expo, which is expected to attract many rum and spirits enthusiasts from Spain and Latin America.

Participating cocktail bars

Currently, a handful of curated bars will feature a special cocktail menu. The list below includes some of the participating bars:

  1. Farándula Fearless Cocktail Bar
  2. LOVO Cocktail Bar
  3. El Antillano Puerto Rican Bar
  4. Love Cocktail Company
  5. Ti’ Punch Rum Bar
  6. Tiki Volcano

DAQ-OFF Competiton by Santa Teresa and BACARDÍ

As a closure to the Mad Ron Week, on Monday, May 12th, both Bacardi and Ron Santa Teresa are sponsoring the DAQ-OFF competition, where bartenders from different bars compete back-to-back to see who can make two daiquiris the quickest, share one with the judge, and enjoy one for themselves.

Behind the experience: the creators

Miguel de Tena from Ron Carupano, Luis Vierra from Ron Santa Teresa, and Larissa Arjona from Ron Abuelo Panama, to name a few, are part of the team of rum ambassadors that created the Mad Ron Week experience. Their mission? To continue revamping the rum industry in what’s today considered one of the cocktail meccas: Madrid, Spain.

“There are many top cocktail bars in Madrid that do wonders with rum. With more than 3 million cases sold a year, rum is part of our culture.  Our involvement with rum goes back centuries, when Spaniards moved to different countries and started distilling sugarcane,” says Miguel de Tena, co-founder of Mad Ron Week.

Finally, Mad Ron Week aims to bring together rum enthusiasts, industry professionals, and curious newcomers to explore and enjoy the complexities of this beloved spirit.
