After a wave of demand from fans, Proximo Spirits has officially brought Kraken Dark Caramel Rum back — this time for good. Originally launched as a limited edition, the expression blends dark caramel and Cornish sea salt to deliver a rich, ocean-inspired profile that quickly won over rum lovers.
Starting this October, Kraken Dark Caramel Rum will be available nationwide across the US and on Amazon, priced at US$27.
The new expression now stands proudly alongside Kraken Black Cherry, Kraken Madagascan Vanilla, and Kraken Roast Coffee, completing a diverse range that highlights the brand’s creativity and bold taste innovation.
Each addition strengthens Kraken’s position in the growing flavored rum category, where experimentation meets storytelling.
The Kraken Dark Caramel Rum draws inspiration from a 19th-century legend near the Port of Penzance. According to the tale, smugglers once hid barrels of Caribbean rum and dark caramel from Arabia in a seaside cave.
When they returned at dawn, a shadowy sea creature — the Kraken itself — drove them away, leaving the treasures behind. Over time, sea spray mingled with the rum and caramel, giving birth to a flavor both mysterious and bold.
Bottled at 40% ABV, Kraken Dark Caramel Rum can be enjoyed neat, over ice, or mixed into a decadent hot chocolate topped with whipped cream. Its sweet-salty blend captures the essence of the sea while adding depth to classic rum cocktails.
This flavor-forward release continues the brand’s mission to fuse storytelling with craftsmanship, appealing to drinkers who seek both taste and character.
Earlier in 2025, Proximo Spirits, the company behind Jose Cuervo, reported a 2.8% sales increase in its second-quarter results — proof that innovation and strong branding keep fueling its global success.
By making Kraken Dark Caramel Rum a core product, Proximo reinforces its strategy of turning limited releases into enduring fan favorites.
