Dropworks, a British rum brand, has appointed Graham Appleyard (ex-Diageo Executive) as its new chief executive officer (CEO). With over 25 years of experience in the beverage industry, Appleyard brings a wealth of expertise, including a four-year tenure at Diageo, where he most recently served as category and shopper marketing director for Western Europe.

Extensive Experience from Diageo and Beyond

During his time at Diageo, Appleyard played a key role in shaping the brand strategies for major labels like Guinness, Baileys, and Pimm’s. He also led Diageo’s joint venture with Moët Hennessy, strengthening the company’s market influence. His extensive experience in marketing, branding, and strategic partnerships makes him a strong fit for Dropworks’ ambitious growth plans.

A Vision for Scaling Up British Rum

Appleyard expressed his enthusiasm for the new role in a LinkedIn post, highlighting his excitement to “play a leadership role in British-distilled rum.” His appointment marks a strategic move by Dropworks to transition from a start-up to a scale-up brand.

According to the company’s press release, Appleyard aims to position Dropworks as the leading British-distilled rum brand. His leadership will focus on expanding distribution, boosting brand visibility, and driving consumer engagement.

The Road Ahead for Dropworks

As Diageo Executive Graham Appleyard takes the reins, industry experts anticipate a dynamic period of growth for Dropworks. With the rising popularity of craft and premium rum, the brand is well-positioned to capitalize on this trend under Appleyard’s guidance.
