The Nicaraguan rum brand, Flor de Caña, announced that the registrations for the Sustainable Cocktail Challenge 2023 are closed. Once more, the competition will task bartenders from around the world with creating cocktails using sustainable ingredients and techniques. The event will be held in more than 60 countries.
Nowadays, the Sustainable Cocktail Challenge is one of the largest bartender contests in the world. Within the framework of the competition, the judges are not only focusing on environmental sustainability but also on social and economic impact.
According to the Nicaraguan rum brand, winning bartenders from each country will be invited to participate in the global final of the Sustainable Cocktail Challenge to take place in Nicaragua in 2024.
The Fair Trade and carbon neutral-certified rum brand hosts a global cocktail competition annually, inspiring the on-trade to work towards a greener future. In this sense, the company works closely with bar managers and bartenders to highlight the importance and benefits of adopting sustainable practices in their everyday operations.
Last year, more than 30 countries were involved, and all participants had access to courses and training sessions on sustainability and ethical practices taught by industry experts.
