Flor de Caña celebrates 135 years of heritage by revealing its most exceptional creation yet: Flor de Caña 35 Year Rum. As one of Central America’s oldest family-owned companies, the brand crowns more than a century of craftsmanship with a release that represents its deepest commitment to sustainability, artistry, and excellence—values shaped across five generations since 1890.
The brand matured this special rum for three and a half decades in American white oak barrels stored inside the family’s private reserve. Nicaragua’s volcanic terroir—defined by the towering San Cristóbal volcano and cooling Pacific breezes—infuses the liquid with remarkable complexity.
This combination of mineral-rich soil, heat, and humidity creates a rum with layered aromas, profound depth, and an exceptionally smooth finish.
Flor de Caña produced only 350 crystal decanters of Flor de Caña 35 Year Rum (700ml). Each bottle retails for US$4,000 and includes an individually numbered certificate of authenticity.
The decanter itself mirrors the silhouette of the San Cristóbal volcano through sculpted ridges along its sides. Artisans hand-finish and polish each piece to illuminate the rum’s warm, amber glow.
A handcrafted stopper carved from volcanic obsidian completes the bottle. The neck features a leather detail that symbolizes the brand’s long-standing dedication to sustainability. Each decanter arrives inside a bespoke wooden case, engraved with illustrations of the lush flora surrounding the volcano’s base.
Tomás Cano, Flor de Caña’s Maestro Ronero for nearly forty years, explains the spirit behind this release: “This special rum edition embodies the essence, values, and artistry that have defined our brand for 135 years. More than a collector’s item, it is a rare treasure of time, crafted for those who value authenticity, legacy, and excellence.”
His words capture the intention behind the creation: a celebration of tradition, time, and identity.
The brand also offers 100ml mini decanters for US$630. These pieces come inside a royal-green keepsake case, giving collectors and enthusiasts another way to experience the anniversary release without committing to the full-size decanter.
Flor de Caña remains the world’s first spirit certified Carbon Neutral and Fair Trade. The brand distills its rums using 100% renewable energy and ages them naturally under the heat of an active volcano—with no added sugar or artificial ingredients.
Recognitions such as “World’s Most Sustainable Rum Brand” (USA), “Ethical Award” (UK), and “Sustainable Spirits Producer” (France) highlight its leadership in responsible production.
