DropWorks Distillery Is Ready to Launch Its First Rum Bottle

DropWorks Distillery is set to launch its first product in the coming weeks. The newest distillery has started making its first barrels of rum, with bottles going on sale at the end of this month. The facility, which has been in operation for about 18 years under the ownership of Lewis Hayes, is now the biggest rum distillery in the UK.

Every drop of the British brand’s rum will be made in the distillery on the Welbeck Estate in Nottinghamshire, a city with a well-developed food and drink industry and a thriving hospitality industry. The brand’s head distiller is Shaun Smith, a rum connoisseur and the brain behind the production processes.

DropWorks rums will be made with the best molasses, fermented with their own yeast strain, distilled on bespoke stills, and blended and aged in their barrels at their three aging locations. The distillery will be able to produce up to 10 casks of rum per day, with the bespoke copper equipment used at the facility being the first of its kind in the UK.

In 2017, there was only one distillery fermenting molasses to produce rum in Britain; currently, there are 28. The rapid expansion shows how British rum is shaping up to be the most exciting category in the industry.

The brand aims to promote values of quality, transparency, experimentation, and sheer enjoyment. Therefore, DropWorks is trying to bring the rum category into the modern era. They have actually created a strong identity centered on fun.

The brand has already begun producing rum, and bottles are expected to be available to the public on April 24. DropWorks Distillery will also be open to the public for tours and tastings.

Creating the Most Joyful Drops!

Let’s take a look at some of the rum expressions that DropWorks will be offering to consumers:

Clear Drop

Clear Drop Rum is unaged, unadulterated, and crystal-clear. It is distilled in slow motion, creating the purest of drops, and then bottled at 45% ABV. It is an expression delicately blended for an even greater depth of flavor. You can enjoy it neat, mixed in cocktails, or even on toast.

Spice Drop

For this expression, bold flavors are created with the finest raw ingredients. Spice Drop is bottled at 40% ABV.

Funk Drop

This rum is fermented with the world’s first wild Trinity yeast and distilled in our bespoke Double Retort still. Funk Drop is designed to add vibrant flavors to your cocktails.
