As reported by The Spirits Business, Dos Maderas, the rum brand owned by Bodegas Williams & Humbert, has unveiled Dos Maderas Origen Thailand, a new limited-edition release that opens the brand’s Origen Series.

The release features a 12-year-old Thai rum finished in rare 80-year-old Oloroso sherry casks. With just 4,000 bottles available worldwide, the expression positions itself as both collectible and exploratory, spotlighting rum’s global diversity through sherry-led maturation.

From Thailand to Jerez: The Story Behind Dos Maderas Origen Thailand

The journey of Dos Maderas Origen Thailand begins in Thailand, where producers distill the rum from locally grown sugarcane. The spirit then ages for 12 years in Bourbon casks before traveling to Jerez, Spain.

Once in Andalusia, the rum matures for an additional six months in exceptionally old Oloroso sherry casks—some more than 80 years old. According to The Spirits Business, this process reflects the brand’s signature “Reverse Finishing” approach, which brings rums from their place of origin to continue aging in Williams & Humbert’s historic cellars.

A New Chapter for the Brand

According to Gonzalo Medina, International Marketing Manager at Bodegas Williams & Humbert, the launch signals a strategic evolution for the brand.

“The release of Origen Thailand introduces a new chapter for Dos Maderas, offering a way to explore global rum-making while preserving the artistry of sherry finishing that the brand is known for,” Medina told The Spirits Business. He added that Thailand was chosen for its vibrant culture, culinary depth, and emerging spirits scene.

Design and Tasting Notes Rooted in Place

The packaging reinforces the concept of origin. A label designed by Claessens International pays homage to Thai culture, featuring the Thai elephant—an emblem of strength, wisdom, and prosperity.

In the glass, Dos Maderas Origen Thailand shows a bright mahogany color with antique gold highlights. Aromas unfold with caramel, coffee, toasted almond, vanilla, dark chocolate, coconut, and subtle citrus. On the palate, the rum delivers warmth and balance, finishing with notes of toasted wood, roasted caramel, chocolate, and coconut.

How Dos Maderas Origen Thailand Is Meant to Be Enjoyed

In Thailand, rum often brings people together—shared with food, friends, and flavor-forward cocktails. Staying true to that spirit, the brand positions Dos Maderas Origen Thailand as versatile: enjoyable neat, over ice, or in elevated cocktail serves.

Signature recipes such as a Pandan Old Fashioned or a Bird’s Eye Mojito incorporate Thai ingredients like pandan, coconut water, mango, Thai basil, and bird’s eye chili, translating local cuisine into liquid form.

Availability and Pricing

Dos Maderas Origen Thailand is available in select retail stores and online via the brand’s e-commerce platform, with a suggested retail price of $82.99 for a 700ml bottle, according to The Spirits Business. Additional information is available through Dos Maderas and Williams & Humbert’s official channels.
