Launched on Monday night, the El Dorado Master Blender 2024 Special Edition Rum by Guyana-based Demerara Distillers Limited (DDL) commemorates 12 years of being the official spirit of the Caribbean Premier League. The Marriott Hotel in Georgetown hosted a special ceremony to showcase the limited-edition rum.

About its production

Like El Dorado’s long-standing relationship with CPL, the information states that the rum is aged for 12 years. It combines carefully chosen marques from the historic Port Mourant Double Wooden Pot Still, Versailles Single Wooden Pot Still, the Uitvlugt French Savalle Still, and the Diamond Coffey Still.

There is a belief that the El Dorado Master Blender Special Edition Rum captured the spirit of DDL and CPL’s 12-year partnership, characterized by passion, dedication, and many memorable experiences.

During the inaugural event

In the course of the inaugural event, Komal Samaroo, the Chairman of Demerara Distillers Limited, mentioned that the history of the nation includes both sugar and rum, with the latter being the product of the sugar industry’s promotion of cricket.

“We thought that this is a good time for us to link our rum brand to the game of cricket because we produce so many great players who have made their names on the global cricket stage,” he explained. “The sugar industry promoted and built cricket in Guyana, so rum and cricket are related to the sugar industry.” The CPL began here in the region 12 years ago.

Samaroo went on to claim that he wanted to help the Caribbean produce excellent cricket players and rum. Additionally, he mentioned that local retail stores and duty-free Shops now carry rum.

More than ten years of partnership in a bottle

He continued by saying that this special edition rum showcases the rich history and flavors of the company and symbolizes more than ten years of dedication and teamwork between El Dorado and the CPL.

The introduction of this unique beverage signifies a significant advancement in the partnership between DDL and the CPL and will provide a taste of this rare rum to the hordes of cricket fans traveling to Guyana for the finals.
