Set to take front stage at the San Francisco Rum Festival on September 1st, from 11:45 AM to 2:00 PM, is the grand conclusion of the 2024 Spirit of Saint Lucia cocktail competition. Hosted at SOMARTS (934 Brannan St, San Francisco, CA), this eagerly awaited event promises to be a celebration of Caribbean flare, originality, and modern mixology.

Supported by the well-known Bounty Rum, created in the heart of Saint Lucia, and the creative cocktail syrup maker Reàl Ingredients, this partnership is praised as a “harmonious fusion of Caribbean legacy and modern mixology.”

A competitive line-up

There are great stakes since bartenders from all throughout the country fight for the sought-after championship. Along with a $1,500 cash award, the winner will be treated to a once-in-a-lifetime trip to the gorgeous island of Saint Lucia. Elizabeth Diaz from Miami’s La Cumbancha, Mike Finn from Chicago’s Sparrow, and Rachel Prucha from New York’s Cotra will be among a select group of mixologists who have previously claimed success in past editions joining the San Francisco champion in this last fight.

Third place will be given $225; the second-place winner won’t depart empty-handed either, getting $500. Beyond the financial benefits, though, competitors will develop the reputation of presenting their skills on a national level, therefore enhancing their careers in the cutthroat field of mixology.

An Honor to Saint Lucia

The challenge for participants is to create a drink that captures Saint Lucia’s great natural beauty and rich culture. According to the guidelines, Bounty Rum is the foundation spirit, ideally matched by one of Reàl Ingredients’ quality syrups. This challenge inspires bartenders to investigate the many tastes and customs of Saint Lucia and combine them with modern cocktail methods to create something quite original.

Get Involved.

From July 15th to August 18th, all people are welcome to register for this fantastic competition. As just the top eight finalists will be chosen to compete live at the San Francisco Rum Festival, aspirant candidates should bring their A-game. On August 20th, these finalists will be revealed on social media, therefore adding even more mystery and expectation to the occasion.

The Bounty Rum website has all competition guidelines and the submission form for individuals keen to take part. This is more than simply a competition; it’s a chance to really experience Saint Lucia’s exuberant energy, play around with new tastes, and maybe establish oneself in the cocktail scene.
