Will Smith Dictador Rum Partnership Signals a Cultural Shift
Last Updated on February 11, 2026 by Maythe Monoche
Actor, musician, and producer Will Smith has partnered with Dictador Rum in a move that reshapes how the brand connects with global culture. As reported by The Spirits Business, the collaboration marks a new phase in Dictador’s evolution, merging fine rum with art, storytelling, and creative exchange.
Smith steps into the role of global artistic director, where he will shape immersive brand experiences and help position Dictador as a cultural platform rather than a traditional spirits label.
A Role Focused on Culture, Not Endorsement
Rather than serving as a brand ambassador, Smith brings a hands-on creative vision to the partnership. He will curate artistic initiatives, foster cross-disciplinary collaborations, and invite creators from film, music, and visual arts to gather around what Dictador describes as “the table.”
“This isn’t about endorsing a bottle: it’s about creating space,” Smith told The Spirits Business. He explained that his early conversations with Dictador CEO Mariusz Jawoszek revealed a shared respect for legacy and a bold approach to storytelling through art.
“Dictador doesn’t just make rum – it creates culture. That’s a table I wanted to sit at,” Smith added.
Why Will Smith Joined Dictador Rum
Smith’s involvement followed years of interaction with the brand, which eventually led to deeper conversations with Jawoszek. Once committed, Smith immersed himself in Dictador’s creative world through workshops, brainstorming sessions, and special projects such as The Game Changer.
Reflecting on the timing, Smith said his background in film, music, and storytelling pushed him toward a more expansive creative challenge. “Dictador’s fearless fusion of art and craft found me at the right moment,” he told The Spirits Business. “Now, it’s time to invite more artists into this family and see what we can create together.”
Dictador Leadership Welcomes a New Cultural Lens
Jawoszek described the partnership as a natural alignment of values. “Will embodies the same rebellious, dynamic spirit that defines Dictador,” he said, according to The Spirits Business.
He emphasized that while Dictador has produced rum in Colombia for more than 110 years using traditional methods, the brand continues to evolve how it tells its story. “What evolves is how we tell our story,” Jawoszek explained, noting that master blender Hernan Parra now oversees production.
“With Will, we are sharing our heritage through a new cultural lens – one that inspires, challenges, and resonates with a new generation,” he added.
Will Smith Dictador Rum Strategy Supports Global Growth
Dictador currently distributes its rums in more than 80 countries across five continents, with particularly strong growth expected in the US market. The brand positions itself at the intersection of craftsmanship and creativity, consistently pushing rum beyond conventional boundaries.
Its projects include the Totem Collection, created with indigenous artisans in Mexico and Colombia, and collaborations with artists such as Richard Orlinski, Lalique, Mariusz Waras (M-City), and Tomasz Górnicki.
A Brand That Treats Rum as Cultural Expression
Dictador has also made history at Sotheby’s, where it set world records for both the most expensive bottle of rum and the most expensive rum cask ever sold. These milestones reinforce the brand’s ambition to elevate rum as a medium for artistic and cultural expression.
As reported by The Spirits Business, the Will Smith Dictador Rum partnership positions the brand not just as a premium spirits producer, but as a creative force shaping how rum engages with contemporary culture.
