The Ultimate Rum-Bartender returns, and for the team at The Ultimate Awards, it’s a pleasure to reopen a space to celebrate personalities who are capable of contributing to the appreciation of rum by creating innovative cocktails and always giving their best in terms of presentation and service.

The format will be different, because while rum lovers will continue to be heard through their votes, there will also be a panel of experts who will serve as judges to determine who deserves to take home the prize.

A broader competition

Pablo Mosquera, one of the event organizers, stated that the selection of participants was based on each one’s merit. In total, there are 34 renowned bartenders from different parts of the world, each with a prolific career worth highlighting.

“We have participants from 24 different countries, ready to show us their best technique,” informed Nestor Parra, another event organizer.

Rum lovers will have from April 8th to 20th to vote for their favorite on the website www.TheUltimateAwards.com. Simultaneously, the contest will feature a panel of first-rate judges who will have the tough task of determining who deserves to take home the grand prize. They are:

– Danilo Oribe: World Cocktail Champion.

– Nestor Parra: Venezuelan bartender of great trajectory. He was nominated for Best Rum Bartender 2017 at the IRC in Madrid, Brand Ambassador and Founder of MixologistBar.com.

– Pablo Mosquera: He has collaborated with great rum experts and worked as ambassador of the Madrid Rum Congress, Ambassador of Ron Santa Teresa in Spain, Ambassador of the Old Fashioned Week.

– Juan Manuel Antelo: Founder of the Barman Academy, the most important cocktail platform in Spain.

– Federico Hernández: CEO of The Rum Lab, organizer of events focused on the rum industry and author of the book “Puerto Rico Rum-Clopedia”.

– Francisco “Don Pancho” Fernández: Master rum maker and distiller with more than 50 years of experience in the field.

Two winners

On this occasion, The Ultimate Rum-Bartender will present two awards: one to the Most Popular Bartender, who will be the most voted by the audience, and the bartender with the best technique, chosen by the panel of judges already presented.

Each bartender will win an interview to be published on TheRumLab.com, as well as a certificate to be awarded at the Spain Rum & Gin Expo to be held next Friday, April 26 at the MEEU facilities, located at the Charmatín station in Madrid.
