Symphony No. 3: “Where Creativity and Spirit Meet”

Symphony No. 3 is a rum brand produced in the US. Its founders, Jaaz De La Vega, Charles Genao, and Sam Hickman, have created an authentic spirit, considered “a departure from the norm.”

It’s a molasses-based rum made from Florida sugarcane, conceived in California, and bottled in Minnesota. Symphony No. 3 Aged Rum won the gold medal in the Dark/Gold Rum class in the 2022 San Francisco World Spirits Competition, while Symphony No. 3 White Rum was awarded the silver medal in the category of white rum.

Jaaz was one of the special guests in The Rum Lab’s live stream broadcasted on Zavvy.co, where he talked about how they made a new brand a staple brand already in some of the main cities in the US.
“We felt like there was a need to set a tone in the space; we want to make it a brand that’s luxurious but affordable. We feel we’ve done that with the label; we’ve done the whole approach.”

In the production process, they do not use any kind of additive, color, or corporate control. “Nothing is really added as far as changing the rum, and it’s exactly what we stated it to be from the beginning.”

A Symphony of Flavors

The brand has two expressions: white rum and aged rum. Their white rum is distilled in a pot still and bottled at 40% ABV. It’s a smooth spirit that you can enjoy neat or on the rocks. Its main notes and aromas include apple, fig, guava, lemongrass, and jasmine.

Symphony No. 3 Aged Rum is a 3-year-old spirit distiller in a pot still, aged in French oak barrels, then transferred to ex-American Rye barrels and turned periodically for a month. Finally, it’s bottled at 44% ABV. This is how the expression embraces the American whiskey tradition, adding a slight dryness to its caramel, chocolate, tobacco, and vanilla notes. “At this point, we believe we’ve found a great middle-ground for the rum and whiskey drinker.”

Its founders describe the brand as the result of values such as family, friendship, trust, and respect.”This is more than a brand, it’s like a family environment that can fit in different sectors, and that’s what we believe Symphony can do, coming from different backgrounds but doing something that’s totally unique.”

This year, they plan to conquer new markets in the US, innovating their production processes to bring a more sophisticated symphony of flavors. “Our rum is currently available in Florida, Park Street, but hopefully, we’ll be in the South by 2023… I’m super blessed. One thing about Symphony is that we are a team coming together and knowing that the brand represents something unique.”
