Sea Scoops by Kraken Rum: Seafood Meets Soft Serve in the Brand’s Boldest Campaign Yet

Kraken Rum has never shied away from stirring the pot—or in this case, the cone. With Sea Scoops by Kraken Rum, the brand has taken its taste for the theatrical to the streets in a black ice cream van topped with giant tentacles, offering a seafood-themed stunt that’s equal parts bizarre and brilliant.

Launched by Kraken Black Spiced Rum, Sea Scoops by Kraken Rum reimagines traditional seafood dishes as gelato-style ice cream. But don’t expect anything sweet. Instead, think savory scoops of smoked mackerel pâté, spicy sesame tuna, and creamy taramasalata, served in black waffle cones and garnished with items like Monster Munch crisps, caviar, and even king prawns.

Each cone also comes drizzled with punchy toppings, including buffalo hot sauce or Kraken’s own teriyaki glaze. According to The Drinks Business, Kraken Rum developed this campaign in collaboration with food professionals, aiming to “amuse, surprise, and attract attention on the high street.”

Where to Find Sea Scoops by Kraken Rum

The tentacled van began its UK tour in Manchester on April 29, moving on to Birmingham, London, and Brighton throughout the week. Visitors can try the unconventional cones for free, while adults aged 18 and over can sip on Kraken Rum cocktails specifically crafted to match the savory flavors. Sampling starts at 11:30 a.m. each day and runs until supplies are gone.

As of May 2, the van has set up at Battersea Power Station, with a final stop in Brighton on May 3.

The Sea Scoops Menu: Three Outrageous Flavors

Seafood lovers (and the merely curious) can taste these unique combinations, available only from Sea Scoops by Kraken Rum:

  • Smoked mackerel pâté with Monster Munch, cucumber, and buffalo hot sauce
  • Spicy sesame tuna with cured salmon, octopus, and Kraken teriyaki glaze
  • Taramasalata with king prawn, caviar, and wild garlic oil

Each cone turns familiar flavors into unexpected, street-side art.

The Brand Behind the Madness: Kraken Rum’s Theatrical Legacy

Known for its nautical mythology and dark humor, Kraken Rum has consistently pushed creative boundaries. As The Drinks Business highlights, the brand’s earlier activations include limited-edition bottles inspired by sea monsters, pop-up bars, and immersive Halloween experiences.

Sea Scoops by Kraken Rum continues this tradition with its theatrical flair. Kraken’s identity, rooted in gothic storytelling and sea legends, comes alive in this latest stunt. “To not respect the power of The Kraken is to not respect the sea,” the brand famously warns.

Why Sea Scoops by Kraken Rum Works

This campaign stands out not only because of its bold visual and flavor choices, but also because it reinforces Kraken Rum’s identity as a daring disruptor in the spirits industry. The brand transformed street marketing into a multi-sensory experience—strange, humorous, and irresistibly shareable.

By connecting the product (rum) with the unexpected (savory cones), Sea Scoops by Kraken Rum bridges imagination and taste in a way only Kraken could pull off.

Kraken Keeps Stirring the Waters

With Sea Scoops by Kraken Rum, Kraken proves once again that it’s more than a spirits brand—it’s an experience. Whether you’re in it for the Instagram-worthy visuals, the theatrical stunt, or the chance to pair rum with seafood cones, this campaign leaves a lasting impression.

As Kraken continues to innovate, one thing remains clear: the sea isn’t the only thing this rum brand is shaking up.
