1. Who is Carlos Báez?

I am a young, passionate man who loves the world of alcoholic beverages and all the related experiences that go with them. I have been working in the industry for almost 12 years; during this time, I studied oenology, rum, and certified in WSET spirits. In the industry, I have been in different departments: the commercial area and marketing. I currently work as Brand Ambassador of Brugal Rum.

2. The greatest achievement that you personally feel you have achieved for the rum industry?

My greatest achievement is to be part of the growth of rum consumption by transmitting knowledge to consumers and seeing how rum is positioned as a premium drink with a presence in the world’s largest capitals and appreciated by the most demanding palates.

3. What made you fall in love with rum, and when did it happen?

Well, I can tell you that I fell in love with rum about 4 years ago, I was studying oenology, and certain concerns related to rum arose. After this, I began to deepen my knowledge about the area, and I began to understand the nobility, character, passion, and dedication that characterizes the making of extraordinary rum. Then I fell in love with everything we can appreciate while enjoying it.

4. What makes you want to continue in the rum industry?

Being part of the growth of the world of rum is a factor that drives me to transmit knowledge; the feeling of gratitude of each person with whom I talk to about the world of rum is one of satisfaction that I value.

Positioning in new markets and being appreciated by more people.

7. What do you think should happen to grow the premium category of rum?

To continue the work that is being developed and create new profiles of rums which adapt to traditional consumers and the new trends of consumption. This will achieve exponential growth of the rum industry.
