As a small manufacturer, 50zwo wants to attract attention without pretending or telling a made-up story. They offer a blend of eight-year-old rum, which has been matured in ex-bourbon barrels.

TRL: Who is Christian Fischer?

My name is Christian Fischer, I am 40 years old, father and have been working in gastronomy for about 25 years and it is my passion.

I actually only discovered the topic of rum a few years ago. The idea was to reinterpret the rum in its complexity and make it more accessible to a large number of people. The design of the bottle should be made a bit more contemporary. Colorful and loud instead of dusty. At the same time, I wanted to avoid extra sugar, additives and colorings. I had my first blend produced in 2021.

TRL: Favorite drink + Recipe

I prefer to drink in small groups with friends, neat or in my trusted bar. My favorite drink is  Canchanchara. Very simple – Rum, lime, honey. A few bartenders were involved in the vote for my first rum because they recognize the pulse of the times, and consciously perceive tastes and moods.

TRL: How can rum contribute to improving the crisis in some countries?

The Rum drinker and buyer should be aware that the sugar cane does not grow in Central Europe but rather in structurally weak countries of the world. For the future of rum, I wish for more sustainability and a fundamentally appropriate and fair payment for the producers of sugarcane.
