Planteray Trinidad 2003 Rum Concludes the Terravera Collection
Planteray Trinidad 2003 Rum, the final and oldest expression in the Terravera collection, has arrived, bringing Maison Ferrand’s terroir-driven rum series to a close with a bold, complex finish.
Aged Across Two Continents
This vintage rum spent 19 years aging in ex-Bourbon casks at the Port of Spain Distillery in Trinidad, followed by an additional three years in French oak ex-Ferrand Cognac casks in Javrezac, southwestern France. This two-step maturation process enhanced the rum’s flavor profile with deep layers of complexity and elegance.
According to The Spirits Business, Planteray’s master blender Alexandre Gabriel explained the significance of this edition:
“Our partnership with Trinidad Distillers has allowed us to create rums rich in character, elegance, and depth. Planteray Trinidad 2003 Rum, as the final Terravera vintage, holds a special place in our collection. It’s a rare expression of rum craftsmanship that will never be replicated.”
Flavor Profile: Fruity, Spicy, and Balanced
Planteray Trinidad 2003 Rum features a vibrant and fruity bouquet. On the nose, expect enticing notes of caramel, vanilla, and citrus. The palate introduces layers of dried fruits and exotic guava, while the finish leaves a lasting impression with hints of black tea, pepper, and dry orange peel.
A Final Toast to Terroir
The Terravera collection celebrates the unique land and culture behind each rum’s origin. With previous releases from Belize (2008), Mauritius (2013), Panama (2010), Barbados (2007), and the Fiji Islands (2004), each bottle offered a single-vintage rum crafted to express the identity of its source.
Now, Planteray Trinidad 2003 Rum concludes that journey, serving as both the oldest and final vintage in the lineup.
Launch and Availability
Bottled at 47.8% ABV and available in 700ml format, Planteray Trinidad 2003 Rum launched exclusively across Europe and Asia-Pacific in mid-April. It retails at €75 (approximately US$86), offering collectors and enthusiasts a final chance to own a piece of this celebrated series.
A Legacy of Craftsmanship
Planteray, originally launched in 1999 as Plantation Rum, continues to focus on terroir-driven expressions that blend Caribbean heritage with French aging techniques. Earlier this year, the brand introduced its Sealander expression to the US market for the first time—demonstrating a continued commitment to innovation even beyond the Terravera collection.
