Noble Cane Releases Two New Collections: Hampden Estate and Rum Fire

Noble Cane’s founder, Federico Hernández, is pleased to announce that the brand Hampden Estate and one of its iconic overproof spirits, Rum Fire, joined our fashion collections. The two new releases capture not only the essence of the brand itself but also its spirit’s personality.

Hampden Estate is renowned throughout the world for its intensely flavorful pot still rums. It is one of the distilleries that still follow the techniques of the 18th century. Those are unique and unreproducible anywhere else, with no maquillage. This is the reason why “Authenticity from the label to the glass” is one of its mottoes. The result? Spirits with an unmistakable aromatic profile, thanks to a very high level of esters.

Its history begins in 1753 in Trelawny, a stone’s throw from the Cockpit Country. In this stunning area on the northwest of Jamaica, they have been distilling rum for 268 years. In 2009, Everglades Farms Ltd. owned by the Hussey family, acquired the estate via public bid through divestment procedures of the Jamaica Sugar Company, maintaining the unique production methods, and preserving the great traditions of Hampden.

The brand’s pillars are told in a unique label thought to provide the most transparency as possible. These include Spring Water, the use of sole water flowing from a natural source in the different production stages. Wild Fermentation, creating a very high level of esters that give an unmistakable aromatic profile, unique in its genre. Only Pot Still, 100% artisanal distillation in copper double retort pot stills.

Tropical Aging, the spirits have aged for more than 7 years in Jamaica, equivalent to more or less 25 years aging in Europe. In addition, Sugar-Free and natural color with nothing artificial. Its particular method of fermentation is one of the integral factors influencing Hampden’s ability to produce what is reputed to be the world’s most in-demand high-ester rum.

A Pure Single Jamaican Rum

Rum Fire is an overproof spirit produced at the Hampden Estate Distillery. With an ester content between 350-450 grams, it falls into the “Light Rum Owen Kelly” (LROK) category. Since hitting American shores in 2016, it has become a favorite oddball tool in the bartender’s arsenal.

The spirit is made from a blend of molasses, dunder and natural airborne yeast, then it is fermented in cedar vats for 10-14 days. Therefore, it is a subtle combination of softness and energy, in terms of both flavors and aromas. Those are accompanied by occasional notes of tar and burnt sugar cane, characteristic of the empyreumatic and mineral style of Jamaican rums.

This Hampden Estate’s spirit is, thus, a highly aromatic rum that enhances the complexity of modern and classic cocktails. Nowadays, it is an archetypal heavy pot rum part of the authentic Jamaican heritage.
