New Grove Advances Sustainability with Bio Rum

New Grove has taken a bold step toward sustainability with the launch of New Grove Bio Rum in December 2024. Ecocert Madagascar certified this innovative rum under the MU-BIO-154 Agriculture non-EU standard, following a year of preparation and traceability efforts. The distillery will continue ensuring compliance through annual audits.
Eco-Friendly Packaging for a Greener Future
Sustainability extends beyond the rum itself. New Grove uses FSC-certified paper and vegetable-based inks for its labels and packaging. The brand sources materials from local suppliers, including members of the Made in Moris initiative, reinforcing its commitment to environmental responsibility and community support.
A Commitment to Innovation and Quality
Grays Inc, the company behind New Grove, sees this launch as a major achievement for both the brand and the Mauritian rum industry. A spokesperson emphasized the significance of this milestone:
“New Grove Bio Rum represents a commitment to the future, blending tradition with innovation. We take pride in leading the way, offering a product that respects the environment while delivering exceptional quality.”
The Distinctive Profile of New Grove Bio Rum
Distilled using a column still, this unaged white rum spends over 24 months resting in vats before bottling. It features a natural, powerful, and aromatic character, with notes of exotic fruit and peppermint. This flavor profile makes it a standout choice for classic cocktails like the Daiquiri.
New Grove’s Ongoing Innovation
Since its establishment in 2003, New Grove has balanced tradition with forward-thinking innovation. Last December, the distillery hosted an exclusive pairing dinner to showcase its rebranded range. Additionally, Grays has launched sustainability initiatives for its Lazy Dodo and Gecko Bay rum brands, reinforcing its commitment to a greener future.
By pioneering sustainable rum production, New Grove continues to shape the future of the industry while staying true to its heritage.
