On October 6, Mount Gay — the world’s oldest continuously running rum distillery — launched the Mount Gay Single Estate Series 25_04_Vt19dp, the latest addition to its terroir-driven collection.
Crafted by Master Blender Trudiann Branker, this limited release showcases rums distilled exclusively from the 2019 sugarcane harvest at the Mount Gay Estate in St. Lucy, Barbados. It marks the second single-harvest-year rum in the series, following 24_02_Vt18d2.

From Cane to Cask: A Legacy of Craftsmanship

In 2015, Mount Gay expanded its operations by acquiring 324 acres of the historic Mount Gay and Oxford Estates, restoring the brand’s full control over production — from sugarcane cultivation to bottling. Since then, the distillery has harvested its estate-grown cane each year, transforming it into molasses, fermenting, distilling, and aging the liquid entirely on-site.

As with the previous expressions (23_01_BnQa, 24_02_Vt18d2, and 25_03_Vt24CF), Branker oversaw every step of the process. This time, she chose to spotlight the 2019 harvest, a year that symbolized Mount Gay’s shift toward regenerative agriculture.

A Tribute to Barbados’ Golden Hour

In a statement shared with PR Newswire, Trudiann Branker expressed her excitement about the new release:

“Made with 100% sugar cane grown on the Estate in St. Lucy, Barbados, 25_04 further illustrates our bond to Mount Gay’s heritage and terroir. The 2019 harvest captured the island’s warm golden hours and Bajan sunsets — a spirit that lives inside every drop.”

The Mount Gay Single Estate Series 25_04_Vt19dp draws visual inspiration from this imagery. Its striking sunset-orange label represents the radiance of the Barbadian horizon — “25” marks the release year, “04” denotes its place in the series, “Vt19” signifies the 2019 vintage, and “dp” highlights its double pot distillation.

Design Meets Sustainability

The bottle design reflects Mount Gay’s growing environmental commitment. Each 700g bottle contains 70% recycled glass, while minimal ink labels feature QR codes that lead drinkers to an in-depth digital guide about the rum’s production.
This eco-conscious approach reinforces the brand’s focus on transparency and sustainability, aligning with modern consumers’ values.

A Unique Double Pot-Distilled Expression

The Mount Gay Single Estate Series 25_04_Vt19dp combines two distinct pot still distillations to create a 100% double pot-distilled rum. Aged for five years in American oak ex-bourbon barrels, it reveals the authentic expression of the island’s terroir. The fermentation process lasted an average of nine days, allowing complex flavors to develop naturally.

Bottled at 55% ABV and non-chill filtered, this rum preserves its full aroma and natural color — best enjoyed neat to appreciate its character.

A Sensory Experience of Barbados

In the glass, Mount Gay Single Estate Series 25_04_Vt19dp shines with a light golden hue. The aroma opens with green apple, red fruits, white roses, and jasmine, followed by toffee, vanilla, and gingerbread spice.
On the palate, layers of cherry, oak, and a touch of sea-salt smokiness unfold, while caramel and red fruits create a perfectly balanced finish. A subtle bitterness adds structure, giving the rum both elegance and depth.

Limited Availability for Collectors

Only 2,754 bottles of Mount Gay Single Estate Series 25_04_Vt19dp exist worldwide, with just 312 bottles allocated to the U.S. Each 700mL bottle retails for $350 USD at select premium retailers.

A Continuing Legacy of Excellence

With over 320 years of rum-making history, Mount Gay continues to define authenticity and innovation through its Single Estate Series. Each release reflects not only Barbados’ land and climate but also the evolving artistry of Master Blender Trudiann Branker, who keeps Mount Gay’s heritage alive — one harvest at a time.
