Milton Rum Distillery is an award-winning boutique distillery located in Brisbane, Queensland (Australia). The brand has been working hard to bring a fresh approach to the Australian rum scene by producing craft spirits with a unique mix of traditional distillation techniques and the latest innovations. Milton Rum Distillery is a historic Brisbane brand being reinvented by its current owners. The original Milton Distillery was one of Australia’s largest rum producers at the time. It championed innovation by being one of the first distilleries to use a rectifying distillation column. Then came the flood of 1890, which destroyed the distillery, and the Milton brand was lost. The Milton Rum Distillery, then one of Queensland’s largest rum producers, never reopened, and no rum was produced in Milton for over 130 years.

A few generations later, Milton Rum comes back to life, full of new passion and a strong desire to change the way people think about rum. The urban distillery sits only a few blocks from the original Milton Rum Distillery. They are honored to have inherited a rich tradition of innovation and quality rum production.

Today, Milton Rum Distillery stands out from rivals through its adoption of technology and novel innovations and its ability to create in-house the tools it needs as distillers. One of the company’s newest purchases is a four-meter-tall hybrid continuous column still that can make more than 300,000 bottles a year with a fraction of the raw materials and energy that a traditional pot still needs. This is the first still of its kind in the world, mainly due to its functionality in several key areas of artisanal spirit production. With the new tools, Milton Rum Distillery will be able to reach its goal of selling its rum all over the country by the end of 2023.
