Kraken’s Black Cherry & Madagascan Vanilla Debuts in the Spiced Rum Market

The Kraken Black Cherry and Madagascan Vanilla Rum is a versatile and flavorful fusion of rich black cherries and Madagascan vanilla, bottled at 40% ABV. These ingredients add sweet, creamy, and slightly spicy back notes to the expression.

According to the brand, the rum is a dark amber liquid with ominous glints of purple and copper. On the nose are aromas of molasses, toffee, and black cherry, with flavor notes of deep cherry and caramel with hints of wood and vanilla. The bottle is similar to the signature Black Spiced Rum design but comes in a purple hue. Serving it with cola over ice is recommended for a new take on the classic rum and coke cocktail.

The new spiced, fruity rum is also suitable for vegetarians and vegans who love rum. The company announced that the broader distribution of the new expression is expected to begin in April 2023. Currently, it is only available in the UK. The latest addition to its lineup is the second new product to drop on UK shores.

Black Spiced Rum, Black Label Rum, and Gold Spiced Rum are some of the brand’s best distillates. They are all made with over 11 secret herbs and spices from the Caribbean. The rum is bottled at 40% ABV. Its higher alcohol concentration means that less water is added to reduce it to its bottling proof, which results in more of its natural flavors remaining intact.

Its catalog also includes canned cocktails, such as Kraken & Cola (made of balanced sweetness and spiced rum), Kraken & Ginger Beer (made of candied ginger, honey, and spiced rum), and Kraken & Rum Punch (a tropical flavor with the kick of Caribbean black spiced rum).

Kraken, named after a mythical giant squid-like sea monster, makes its rum from molasses at the Angostura Distillery in Trinidad and Tobago. Then, they are aged between one and two years. The brand is owned by the US-based company Proximo Spirits and is one of the most popular spiced rums in the US.

Some of the brand’s unique selling points are that it is the world’s only ink-black spiced rum and that it is versatile with unlimited potential. Likewise, the Kraken can be sipped on its own, but it can also work well with cola, ginger beer, or energy drinks and be used in cocktails.
