Kōloa Rum Expands in California with New Distribution Deal

Kōloa Rum Company has taken a strategic step to reinforce its position in the California spirits market. Effective July 1, 2025, the Hawaiian rum brand partnered with Reyes Beverage Group (RBG) to oversee its distribution in the state. This shift comes after RNDC (Republic National Distributing Company) announced its exit from California operations.

“California has always been a vital market for Kōloa Rum, and this transition ensures we can continue building momentum in the state,” stated Bob Gunter, President and CEO of Kōloa Rum Company, in a press release via PR Newswire. “We’re pleased to partner with Reyes Beverage Group, whose strong presence and proven capabilities in the market will support our continued growth.”

A Strategic Move to Ensure Continued Growth

By aligning with Reyes Beverage Group—recognized for its extensive in-state reach—Kōloa Rum ensures its portfolio remains readily accessible throughout California. Gunter also acknowledged RNDC for its previous support, expressing appreciation for the longstanding relationship that will continue in other regions.

This distribution shift reflects Kōloa Rum’s long-term growth strategy across the United States. It also coincides with the company’s recent product launches, including the bold Kōloa Kaua’i Cane Fire Hot Cinnamon Flavored Rum and the refined Kōloa Kaua’i Single-Batch Aged Rum.

Crafting Hawaiian Rum with Purpose and Passion

Founded in 2009, Kōloa Rum Company has built a reputation for crafting premium, small-batch Hawaiian rum that captures the essence of the islands. The company distills, blends, and bottles its rums at its Kalaheo, Kaua‘i distillery using pure cane sugar and rainwater sourced from Mount Waiʻaleʻale.

Each rum in Kōloa’s award-winning portfolio tells a story rooted in Hawaiian culture and craftsmanship. Offerings include White, Gold, Dark, Spice, Coconut, Cacao, Coffee, Aged, and the recently introduced Cane Fire Hot Cinnamon. Every bottle reflects the brand’s commitment to quality, sustainability, and authenticity.

A Growing National and International Footprint

Kōloa Rum currently distributes its products in 36 states and several international markets. As the first licensed distillery on Kaua‘i since Prohibition, the brand has played a pioneering role in reviving the island’s rum tradition.

With its new California partnership, Kōloa Rum is poised to reach more consumers in one of the most dynamic spirits markets in the US.
