New York, NY (May 9, 2024) – Holmes Cay Rum has announced the release of two distinctive single cask expressions for the Spring of 2024, showcasing exceptional vintages from Venezuela and Barbados. These releases, comprising the Venezuela 2007 and the Barbados 2012 Port Cask, epitomize the brand’s commitment to offering rare, cask strength rums to North American aficionados.

The Timeless Craft of Distillation

The Venezuela 2007 15-Year expression originates from the venerable Destileria Sofa, a historic distillery with 228 years of rum-making heritage nestled in the Aragua Valley. Distilled exclusively from molasses using a column still in 2007, this rum matured tropically for 15 years before bottling in New York State at 55% alcohol by volume. The tasting notes promise a complex palate with caramel aromas, tangy citrus, and peach flavors, culminating in a dry finish marked by peppery and oaky undertones.

On the Caribbean island of Barbados, the 2012 Port Cask expression from the acclaimed Foursquare Rum Distillery represents a molasses-based blend of pot and column still rums. Initially aged for eight years in ex-bourbon casks in the tropical climate of Barbados, it underwent an additional 18 months of aging in second-fill port casks in New York State. Bottled also at 55% alcohol, it offers a sensory profile featuring light baking spices, cherry, and vanilla, leading to a dry and tannic finish with notes of stone fruit.

Availability and Pricing

These premium rums reflect Holmes Cay’s commitment to purity and quality, with no additives influencing their natural flavors. The Venezuela 2007 is priced at $89.99 per 700 ml bottle, and the Barbados 2012 Port Cask at $99.99 per 700 ml bottle, each available in cases of six.

Holmes Cay products are distributed across several states including Arizona, California, Colorado, Delaware, Florida, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Maryland, Massachusetts, New York, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Texas, and Washington D.C., and can also be purchased through various online retailers.

About Holmes Cay Rum

Founded in 2019 by Eric Kaye, Holmes Cay Rum specializes in the meticulous selection and distribution of the world’s finest small-batch, limited-edition rums. Frustrated by the limited availability of cask strength, non-additive rums in the United States, Kaye embarked on a mission to bring these hard-to-find aged expressions from Europe and the Caribbean to the U.S. market, fostering greater transparency within the rum industry. Holmes Cay offers both single cask and more accessible single origin expressions and blends, continually seeking to share the best of global rum craftsmanship with discerning consumers.
