Havana Club Unveils Rum Finished in Irish Whiskey Casks
Havana Club, owned by Pernod Ricard, has introduced the latest release in its exclusive Icónica Collection: Tributo 2025. This ultra-premium rum undergoes a distinctive finishing process in Redbreast Single Pot Still Irish whiskey casks from Midleton Distillery in Cork, Ireland.
Honoring Cuban Rum Heritage
Since its launch in 2016, the Tributo Collection has celebrated Cuba’s rich rum-making tradition. The 2025 edition marks the eighth installment, crafted under the expertise of the maestros del ron Cubano, who have refined the art of ageing and blending for generations.
Asbel Morales, maestro del ron Cubano and curator of the Tributo Collection, highlighted the innovation behind this release: “Tributo 2025 showcases Havana Club’s dedication to successive ageing and blending. By finishing this rum in Redbreast whiskey casks, we merge Cuban and Irish craftsmanship, creating a one-of-a-kind expression.”
Tasting Notes: A Fusion of Two Traditions
Bottled at a cask strength of 43% ABV, Havana Club Icónica Tributo 2025 delivers a complex sensory experience. On the nose, expect inviting aromas of vanilla, dried fruits, and a hint of Sherry. The palate unfolds with candied orange, fruitcake, plantain crisps, and subtle spices, all wrapped in toasted oak undertones.
David McCabe, master blender at Midleton Distillery, expressed enthusiasm for the partnership: “Redbreast represents the finest in single pot still Irish whiskey, known for its Sherry cask influence. Collaborating with Havana Club allowed us to unite our expertise and push the boundaries of flavor exploration.”
Availability and Pricing
Limited to 2,967 individually numbered bottles, Havana Club Tributo 2025 will launch in over 20 international markets starting in April. The recommended retail price is €450 (US$467).
Havana Club’s Expanding Global Influence
Beyond this latest release, Havana Club continues to make waves in the spirits industry. Recently, the brand announced its pursuit of a geographical indication (GI) for Cuban rum in the European Union, following a U.S. bill blocking the Cuban trademark. Additionally, Havana Club confirmed the return of its prestigious bartending competition, The Cocktail Maestros, in 2025.
