EMINENTE 2012: An Exceptional Limited Edition Cuban Rum Crafted by Confrérie du Rhum and Excellence Rhum
Benoit Bail and Jerry Gitany from La Confrérie du Rhum, accompanied by Alexandre Beudet and Flo Lenziani from Excellence Rhum, were recently invited to Cuba by the Cuban rum brand EMINENTE, owned by the French luxury group LVMH, to create an Exceptional Limited Edition Cuban Rum.
Moreover, from this trip, in addition to the magnificent visits and memories, our 4 friends brought back a rum that they made on-site to jointly celebrate their 10 years, which piqued my curiosity to the maximum.
Furthermore, recognizing that Cuban rums were often quite consensual, with low alcohol content and sweetened, the brand Eminente had already shown innovation by offering a range of rums that deviated somewhat from the tradition respected until then on the island.
Cuban rums uniquely blend “light” rums, distilled in columns at around 90%, with “heavy” rums or “aguardientes” distilled in columns at around 75%.
Moreover, the rums known until now commonly combine approximately 30% of aguardiente with 70% of light rums.
Eminente reversed the proportions, giving their rums more aromatic power and complexity.
As our friends embarked on the special vintage project, they carefully considered specific elements for the specifications.
- 100% quality (never seen before).
- Straight from the barrel.
- 10 years old.
- Affordable selling price.
The Master Rum
César Martí, the master rum maker working with Eminente, helped our 4 rum lovers create this unique rum.
It’s a Cuban rum, column-distilled from molasses, 100% aguardiente, blended from 2 barrels with 2012 vintage.
The first barrel, with 75% raw column rum, aged on top for 10 years.
The second barrel, with reduced rum, aged at the cellar’s bottom for 10 years.
The blend produced a 10-year-old 2012 vintage rum, barrel-aged at 55.5% ABV with 4.7g/L sugar, limited to 660 bottles.
The Bordeaux Rum Festival will exclusively present this vintage on June 10th and 11th.
