As an independent company, E&A Scheer enjoys the flexibility to source exceptional rums from around the globe. This unique position allows them to explore a diverse range of flavors and styles.
Currently, E&A Scheer boasts millions of liters of high-strength rum, sourced from 40 different origins and distilleries. Their extensive inventory spans the Caribbean, Americas, EU, Asia, and Africa. Each drop is meticulously monitored and stored in a state-of-the-art warehouse located in the heart of Amsterdam.
Recently, E&A Scheer has expanded its offerings with new rums from Ghana, Liberia, and Tahiti. These additions include various styles, such as pot and column still, as well as both fresh and molasses-based rums. The selection ranges from unaged to aged varieties, ensuring that there’s something for every palate.
The company’s portfolio encompasses a wide spectrum of styles, flavors, and tastes. They offer rums in both bulk quantities and individual casks, allowing E&A Scheer to create bespoke blends tailored to specific brand needs in sectors such as beverages, confectionery, flavoring, and fragrances.
Niels Benschop, the Chief Commercial Officer of E&A Scheer, notes that one of the emerging trends in the rum category is the consumer demand for more exotic origins and unique stories. He explains, “Rum blending is the art of creating tangible liquids that match with authentic stories. The more blending components we have in stock, the more blends we can build.”
E&A Scheer continually leads the industry by monitoring and introducing innovative rums from both well-known regions, such as Guyana, and less conventional areas like Vietnam. Benschop expressed excitement about expanding their portfolio with rare rums, stating, “These provide us with even more possibilities to create unique blends that meet the specific requirements of our customers and enable them to keep up with industry trends.”
In addition to traditional rums, E&A Scheer also offers Batavia Arrack, a pot-distilled Indonesian rum produced on the island of Java, and Brazilian sugar cane spirit cachaça. This diverse range enhances their ability to cater to various market needs.
In January of this year, E&A Scheer was acquired by the global investment firm Platinum Equity for an undisclosed amount. This acquisition positions the company for further growth and innovation in the rum industry.
