The world’s first Appleton Estate rum boutique has already opened at Jamaica’s Sangster International Airport. Travelers flying from Jamaica’s busiest airport can now explore the world of this rum brand in a new high-tech, premium store.

The boutique takes shoppers on a self-guided, cane-to-cup journey into the heart of what makes Appleton Estate a unique spirit. Therefore, customers navigate through it via a series of interactive touchpoints that express Jamaica’s iconic rum’s legend, craft, and multisensorial characteristics.

Customers can find the latest brand releases, such as the Ruby Anniversary Edition, made to celebrate Master Blender Joy Spence’s 40 years with the distillery. This expression is a rich, complex blend of five rare rums, each of them aged for a minimum of 35 years and carefully selected from Appleton Estate’s stock of over 200,000 sleeping barrels.

The distinctive insignia of Appleton Estate is the central feature of the store’s physical experience and the starting point for this digital journey. The insignia took the shape of a modernist 3D copper sculpture in the center of the boutique. Its main role is to attract shoppers and help them learn more about the brand’s rich history, passion for natural ingredients, and terroir.

Visitors can also scan the front label of any bottle with their phones or tablets to get a detailed description of the rum they have chosen or are interested in. Joy Spence herself narrates a cane-to-cup explanation of the information’s production process in addition to tasting notes.

At the boutique, you can also find a tasting bar, where expert brand ambassadors explain how to make delicious cocktails with Appleton Estate rum and conduct guided tastings of its award-winning portfolio, including Appleton Estate Signature, 8-Year-Old Reserve, 12-Year-Old Rare Casks, 15-Year-Old Black River Casks, and 21-Year-Old Nassau Valley Casks.

Finally, tourists can personalize their gifts as the shop’s brand ambassadors can design a personalized digital message for the products they buy. These messages can be accessed via a QR-code-enabled neck hanger on the purchased bottle of Appleton Estate 15-Year-Old or 21-Year-Old.
