Barrell Bourbon 20 Year Old Triple Rum Cask Finish Debuts
Barrell Craft Spirits just revealed the Barrell Bourbon 20 Year Old Triple Rum Cask Finish, One More Dram reports. The project began in 2020 when BCS emptied its 14‑year‑old Gray Label Rum—an island blend from Jamaica, Guyana, and Barbados—and repurposed those casks for 15‑year‑old Tennessee bourbon.
Five additional years of rest produced today’s 20‑year expression, uniquely seasoned by three distinct rum barrels.
Tasting Snapshot
- Nose – Tropical high‑ester fruit, ripe melon, and coconut mingle with milk chocolate, sweet oak, and soft vanilla, while clove and toasted hazelnut add spice.
- Palate – Think warm banana bread and milk chocolate offset by lemon cream. Sweet oak, toffee, and caramel latte glide into layers of spiced pecan, hazelnut, nutmeg, and a hint of aged leather.
- Finish – Toasted marshmallow and a touch of pine meet bittersweet sweet‑vermouth complexity, leaving echoes of dark rum, baking spice, and herbs.
Limited Allocation and Pricing
BCS bottled only 250 units of Barrell Bourbon 20 Year Old Triple Rum Cask Finish. Sales go live June 18 at 10 a.m. EST on BarrellBourbon.com and at the Louisville visitor center, priced at $199.99 for a 750 mL.
Why It Matters
Fans of long‑aged bourbon and rum finishes will see this as a collector’s piece—proof that extended time in rum casks can weave tropical depth into mature Tennessee whiskey. Expect demand to outpace the modest supply.
