Appleton Estate Rum debuts Hearts Collection 1998
The most recent addition to Appleton Estate’s yearly line of vintage-dated, extra-aged rums is the Hearts Collection 1998.
This seventh edition of this collection of 100% pot still expressions is the new vintage, which has been matured 25 years on the Appleton Estate in Nassau Valley, Jamaica. In collaboration with Italian rum expert Luca Gargano from Velier, master blender Dr. Joy Spence chose it.
This year’s Hearts Collection is a 1998 vintage that is comprised of one unique brand distilled in a copper pot still and bottled in 2023.
One of the rare marques utilized in the Appleton Estate Joy Anniversary Blend is faithfully replicated in Hearts Collection 1998. With its smooth aftertaste and prominent vanilla aroma, this rum is perfect for enjoying slowly.
Distillery notes for Hearts Collection 1998 include fruit, molasses, ginger, butterscotch, smoked coffee, vanilla, herbs, and faint oak.
There are just 19 barrels that provide the 1998 expression.
In 2020, Appleton Estate introduced its first pot still rums from a single barrel, the Hearts Collection vintages, which were named to honor the center of Jamaica. Several outlets reported selling out of these limited-edition variations and their subsequent releases within minutes, according to the distillery. The Hearts Collection has so far released eight singles in the years 1994, 1995, 1999, 1984, 2003, 1993, 2002, and 1998.
Appleton Estate Hearts Collection 1998, a 750 ml. bottle with an estimated retail price of around $650, will begin to make its way into select U.S. alcohol retail locations around the tail end of August.
