Lafayette, LA – December 3, 2025 — American Cane introduces Banter Rum, the debut collection from the House of American Cane, and positions it as an invitation back to America’s rum roots. The Banter Rum launch arrives with two expressions—Banter White Rum and Banter Amber Rum—and begins distribution across Massachusetts, New York, and California. The brand also prepares to open its online shop in early December, offering shipping to 40 states.

To kick off the Banter Rum launch, the team focuses on flavor clarity, transparency, and an honest, no-shortcuts approach.

Bright, Fresh, and Uncomplicated: Banter White

Banter White Rum delivers a crisp, dry pot-and-column blend with bold citrus energy. The nose highlights lime zest, vanilla bean, and soursop with a subtle macadamia roundness. The palate follows with tropical fruit, fresh grass, toasted vanilla, and a sharp snap of lime curd and minerality.

American Cane emphasizes that they use no sweeteners, no flavorings, and no tricks, keeping the White Rum clean, dry, and made for people who want straight-up quality. They distill it from both molasses and cane juice for layered freshness.

Quiet Depth and Warm Texture: Banter Amber

The Banter Rum launch also introduces Banter Amber Rum, a pot-and-column blend aged up to four years. The aroma brings pecan, baking spice, and singed grapefruit, while the palate delivers macadamia, citrus, honey, and pineapple marmalade. Tangy orange zest lifts the mid-palate, and the finish stretches long with mango, toasted cinnamon, and gentle warmth.

Like its counterpart, Banter Amber skips additives and theatrics. American Cane positions it as a dry, velvety rum for drinkers who love richness without the fuss.

A Vision Rooted in Connection and Heritage

Darin Vest, Co-Founder of American Cane, describes Banter as a celebration of human warmth and shared experience:
“Banter is about connection, heritage, and enjoyment. We crafted these rums to be approachable, vibrant, and full of character.”

Co-Founder Chaz Vest expands on the mission, saying that with Banter, the brand aspires to reunite Americans with their ancestral and cultural drinking heritage.

Rum isn’t just a spirit; it’s a conduit for connection, conversation, and joy around the table.”, affirms Vest.

Thoughtful Craft Meets Real-World Drinking

CEO Maggie Campbell also reflects on her long career and the excitement of this Banter Rum launch:
“After nearly two decades in the industry, it’s incredibly rewarding to bring Banter Rum to life. We sourced blends that meet people where they are—down to earth, high-quality, versatile, and low-drama—while keeping the price inviting.”

Banter will reach Massachusetts through Raising Glasses, New York through Spaghetti Western, and California through Superlative Spirits. Additional markets will join the rollout in 2026, with national access through the brand’s website: thebanterisbetter.com.

Retail prices remain accessible: Banter White Rum at $24–$28 and Banter Amber Rum at $28–$32, depending on the state.

American Cane’s Mission for the Future

At the heart of the Banter Rum launch sits American Cane’s broader ambition—to redefine America’s place in the global rum world. The company draws inspiration from the nation’s deep rum heritage, prioritizing flavor integrity and modern craftsmanship. Their long-term goal is to elevate rum’s reputation in the United States and shape a distinctly American identity for the category.
