“Our single casks are like fingerprints — no two are alike,” Gabriel told The Spirits Business. “Each cask reflects shared knowledge with other producers and captures the essence of the tropics, France, and now a third world through these extraordinary finishing casks.”
Barrel Swaps: When Rum Meets Whisky
Three standout releases in the 2025 Planteray Single Cask Rum lineup stem from bold barrel-swapping collaborations with respected whisky distilleries that share Planteray’s commitment to terroir and authenticity.
Paraguay 2014 – Arbikie Highland Rye Cask (46.5% ABV): Finished in barrels from Scotland’s Arbikie Distillery, this rum gains dry spice and roasted notes that complement Paraguay’s tropical sweetness. Arbikie’s grain-to-glass philosophy shines through in every sip.
Trinidad 2016 – Armorik Oloroso Whisky Cask (44.3% ABV): This expression partners with France’s Warenghem Distillery, home of Armorik single malt. The oloroso-seasoned cask infuses the rum with orchard fruit, fig, chocolate, and a saline finish — an elegant dance between Brittany’s sea air and Andalusia’s warmth.
Fiji Islands 2009 – Kilchoman Peated Whisky Cask (47.7% ABV): The high-ester rum from Fiji collides with Islay’s smoky soul in this powerful single cask from Kilchoman Distillery. Expect notes of dark cocoa, citrus zest, and campfire smoke — a true sensory explosion.

Each expression is deliberately crafted in small quantities, offering what Jonas Indesteege, global brand manager for rum prestige at Maison Ferrand, calls “a one-off experience meant to be savored.”
“Our partners hand-select these casks to offer their customers something extraordinary — bottles filled with authenticity and meant to be enjoyed slowly,” Indesteege explained to The Spirits Business.
