E&A Scheer Warehouse Opens Europe’s First Cask Rum Facility

The E&A Scheer Warehouse has opened its doors in Liverpool, marking Europe’s first dedicated facility for cask-aged rum. This strategic move, led by The Main Rum Company—E&A Scheer’s sister organization—aims to meet the growing global demand for premium and rare rum.
Strengthening Roots in Liverpool
The Main Rum Company recently relocated its operations to this new warehouse, situated close to its previous site along the River Mersey. The Liverpool location not only offers easy access to the company’s head office but also supports more efficient operations.
Andy Seach, Commercial Manager at The Main Rum Company, emphasized the significance of the move:
“This new E&A Scheer Warehouse strengthens our control over our most prized casks and allows us to deliver an even higher level of service. It’s a major step forward for our operations.”
Rare Casks from Around the World
The E&A Scheer Warehouse now holds an impressive collection of rare and old rums sourced from regions as diverse as Jamaica, Vietnam, and beyond. These casks represent just a fraction of the company’s vast inventory, which extends across multiple European locations and global origins.
Niels Benschop, Chief Commercial Officer at E&A Scheer, shared:
“Our rum cask inventory, including what’s now housed in the new E&A Scheer Warehouse, offers customers unprecedented access to an unmatched variety of global rum expressions.”
Supporting Innovation and Education
More than just a storage site, the E&A Scheer Warehouse serves as a hub for innovation, consultancy, and education. The Main Rum Company actively advises established brands and new entrants on selecting the perfect rum styles for their projects—especially those targeting the premium and super-premium segments.
Seach noted that the warehouse will also support training and development across the industry, making it a knowledge center for anyone interested in aged rum.
Expanding the Global Rum Portfolio
Earlier in 2024, E&A Scheer diversified its offerings by adding new rums from Australia, Cambodia, Haiti, Japan, and Tahiti. These additions further elevate the value of the inventory now available through the E&A Scheer Warehouse.
In January, global investment firm Platinum Equity acquired E&A Scheer, signaling a new chapter in its international growth. With this added support, the company continues to build infrastructure that benefits rum producers, blenders, and connoisseurs worldwide.
